Back to the Virtual World!!!!!!!!!

It is time to get back to blogging, isn’t it horrible when real life gets in the way of virtual reality? I had four speaking engagements in different places last week. This week has been spent in celebrating my dad’s 82nd birthday as well as my 61st.

We had a steak at his favorite restaurant, then went back to his place to eat his latest delicacy, peach enchiladas. They are a marvel.

Two days later I took the boys to ride a fast roller coaster at the Kemah Boardwalk, the Bullet. It was fun and my grandsons thought I was cool. They didn’t realize I was just trying to deny my age. Afterwards we went to a Golden Corral for supper.

Ad Space Direct

My daughter has put together a small consortium of blog sites that will allow advertisers to deal directly with the bloggers to place ads at reasonable prices and cut out the middle men expenses of dealing with a broker.

The blogs are carefully targeted and present the advertiser the opportunity to select the blog or blogs that match their advertising interests. Each of the blogs is maintained with a high level of writing and creative content.

Bloggers Book Club Forming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A good friend of mine has decided to put together a
Book Club gathering of bloggers each month. She will post a book for any one who is interested in participating to read by the 25th of the month. Then each participant will post his or her report on the book on their own blog, with a link to the book club site. My friend will include links back to the various posts so that the participants can peruse the other posted reports.

The book to be read for the month of April is To Kill A Mockingbird. I have not read it since high school, so I will pick up a copy at the library and give it a reread.

The whole idea sounds like fun to me, and of course, the more the merrier!

Odd News Clips

Do you enjoy quirky news stories. When I see one I usually just shake my head and wonder how such things get put on the air as though it is news. But the fact that I stop to watch and shake my head probably answers the question of why it was aired.

In fact I sometimes to to the web site called the News Room to find interesting or funny stories to post on my blog. Check out the one below for the amusement. And if you would like to embed it on your web site or blog, just click on the embed button to receive the code. It is free and it can add some fun to your posts!

An Auspicious Award!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been honored by the illustrious Pinhole with a ROAR award. One of the obligations as a ROAR winner is to share three writing tips and then name five other bloggers I deem worthy of the ROAR.

1. Write about things that you really interest you, not about things you think others will appreciate.

2. Be succinct.

3. Enjoy the process as well as the finished product.

Now to get the really good tips, check with these ROAR award winning bloggers:

Silken--the down to earth mom and wife who is far more talented a writer than she realizes!

Inklings--knows the craft and is always fun to read!

Sharon Hurley Hall--this lady is one of the most helpful and skillful writers in blogdom!

Sire--especially if you want to be up on the latest way to make money with your blog!

Trick Falls--novelist, blogger and southern gentleman!

Family Fun Faith as a Domain of its Own

I began blogging about two years ago at the encouragement of my middle daughter. She had found a blog site that was a fun community called writing up. It is now defunct, but she and my first born and I have continued to blog in several different sites, but today is the first time I have blogged on a paid domain with my favorite blog identity, Family Fun & Faith.

I will likely make this my primary blog focus over the foreseeable future, though I will still show up in the old neighborhoods, to stay in touch with old friends.
